Complete specifications of the Blue Lagoon UV lamp
The UV lamp emits UV-C ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm and a highly effective bactericidal effect. During the disinfection process, water from the hot tub, swim spa pool or swimming pool flows past the UV lamp, where it is exposed to ultraviolet radiation. This radiation effectively kills bacteria, viruses and other simple microorganisms that are the main source of water contamination and prevents them from multiplying. This method works even when organisms become immune to other disinfection methods. UV-C radiation also triggers photo-oxidation reactions that destroy chloramines (chloramines cause an unpleasant odour in the pool area and irritate mucous membranes) without the need to apply additional chemicals. Technical specifications:
  • output: 16 W
  • maximum water volume: approx. 20 m3
  • maximum system pressure: 3 bar
  • maximum water flow rate: 20 m3/hour
  • 230V-50Hz socket power supply via a 220/12V isolation transformer
  • Philips UV-C lamp with a service life of approx. 9000 hours

UV-C lamp – hot tub disinfection using ultraviolet radiation

A device that disinfects water using short-wave ultraviolet light and can eliminate viruses, bacteria and algae. It is not used on its own; a reduced dose of a disinfecting agent, such as chlorine or hydrogen peroxide, is always added to the water as well. Like an ozonator, it can eliminate combined chlorine. It is a better option than an ozonator for supporting water disinfection. The effectiveness of the UV-C lamp tube gradually decreases, and after approximately two years the tube needs to be replaced even if it is still lit. Modern pool water treatment systems can no longer do without a UV-C lamp, and these lamps are installed in all facilities where the water is subject to greater contamination.
