Ozonator

A device that produces ozone O via an electrical discharge₃. Ozone is a gas with excellent disinfecting effects. It is used to assist water disinfection, especially when disinfecting water with chlorine in hot tubs. Ozone also reacts very well with chlorine, removing combined chlorine, which causes irritation of the human body and a strong chlorine smell. Combined chlorine is, moreover, harmful to health in higher concentrations. Ozone also has a positive effect on the skin, but in higher concentrations it is also harmful to health. Therefore an ozonator in a hot tub only assists water disinfection and is not used for full water disinfection. The ozonators commonly used in hot tubs are able to produce ozone only for a limited time and after a two-year operating period they usually no longer generate ozone and need to be replaced.
