Ozonator

A device that uses an electrical discharge to produce ozone O₃. Ozone is a gas with excellent disinfecting properties. It is used to support water disinfection, particularly when disinfecting hot tub water with chlorine. Ozone also reacts very well with chlorine, removing combined chlorine, which causes irritation to the human body and a strong chlorine odour. At higher concentrations, combined chlorine is also harmful to health. Ozone also has a positive effect on the skin, but at higher concentrations it too is harmful to health. Therefore, the ozonator in a hot tub only supports water disinfection and is not used to disinfect the water completely. Ozonators commonly used in hot tubs can only produce ozone for a limited period and, after two years of operation, usually no longer generate ozone and need to be replaced.
