Solar heating can help reduce the cost of heating water in a pool or swim spa pool, especially during the season and when the installation has a suitable orientation. It works best as a supplementary solution that uses solar energy when it is abundant.
The design needs to account for the collector area, pipe routing, water volume, desired temperature, and type of cover. Without a good cover, some of the energy gained is quickly lost.
Savings only make sense as part of a complete solution
We recommend assessing solar heating together with insulation, a thermal cover, a heat pump, and the actual usage pattern. The aim is not complicated technology but reasonable operating costs.
