How to prepare a site for a hot tub in your garden
What to prepare before installing an outdoor hot tub: base, electricity, access, location, privacy and servicing space.
A properly prepared site determines how quickly and smoothly the hot tub installation will proceed. An outdoor hot tub is more than just an attractive addition to the garden. It is a tub full of water, technology, electricity and a place you will use throughout the year.
Solid, Level Base
The hot tub must stand on a firm, level surface with sufficient load-bearing capacity. The most common solutions are a concrete slab, high-quality paving, or a structurally prepared terrace. It is important that the surface does not subside over time and that the hot tub remains level.
Electricity and Safety
Always have the electrical preparation handled by a qualified professional. Circuit protection, power supply, and wiring requirements vary depending on the specific model. Before purchasing, it is useful to know where the cable will run, where the switchboard will be located, and how the hot tub will be connected safely.
Access for Delivery and Handling
The entire route from the delivery point to the final location needs to be considered. Sometimes manual handling is sufficient, while at other times machinery or a crane is preferable. It helps to know the width of passageways, the number of steps, the slope of the property and any obstacles around the house.
Service access
A hot tub should not be enclosed in masonry in a way that prevents access to the technology. Even a high-quality hot tub requires servicing, inspections, cleaning and the potential replacement of parts. If the hot tub is recessed, service access is one of the most important aspects of the design.
Privacy, views and everyday use
A hot tub should be both enjoyable and practical. Consider where you will approach it from, where you will put your towel, whether your neighbours will be able to see you and whether the location will be exposed to strong winds. A windbreak, pergola, slatted screen or smart positioning of the hot tub can often help.
At IDOL SPAS, we consider placement as early as the model selection stage. Thanks to Czech manufacturing and custom configuration, the technology, cladding, colours and practical installation details can all be planned in advance.
